Jane Blank

Jane has a style and voice that provokes extreme reaction. Her expressionist imagery projects deep & even violent emotions onto the external world. What impresses is her power to play and be irreverent with language, yet to also pay respect to its dynamic musical potential.

Jane, a Welsh speaker, is the product of Welsh parents, a Sheffield upbringing & a longing to ‘return’ to Wales. She regularly lectures on creative writing courses at the Hill Education & Conference Centre in Abergavenny and at the Farncombe Estate Learning Centre in the Cotswolds.

Jane’s book is also available to order on-line from the Welsh Book Council @ http://www.gwales.com/ and if you’d like to read more about playing the cello whilst naked (!) please see “Naked Cellists” @ http://www.nakedcellist.org/about.html.

Naked Playing  the Cello

by Jane Blank

The Collective Press     ISBN 1 899449 95 7
This is Jane Blank's first collection.  It has been a long time in the making and fully justifies the care taken in assembling it.  Sometimes uncomfortably blunt, sometimes heartbreakingly naive, these poems show how an exquisitely controlled imagination can create a hotline to truth.
